Balwyn Junior Football Club was one of the first clubs in the Yarra Junior Football League to make the use of helmets compulsory for players in its Under 9s (Tackers) teams.

Our policy, revised at a Committee meeting held in March 2007, is:

Under 9s - Helmets for compulsory and are supplied by the Club

Under 10s - Helmets are highly recommended and are supplied by the Club

Under 11s - Helmets are supported, but are optional, and will be supplied by the Club on request from the team coach or manager

Under 12s and above - Helmets are supported, but are optional, and will not be supplied by the Club but can be purchased by any player wishing to use one.
